Sommith Phunyathone joined Swisscontact in June 2017. He graduated Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism management and Hospitality in 2018 at Champasak University. Now, he works as a Technical Officer under the Waste to Value Project based in Vientiane Capital, Laos and his main responsibilities are support team and lead some intervention to implement activities in Vientiane Capital and Vientiane Province. In 2016, he worked at Student Volunteers Foundation Malaysia as a volunteering. The Student Volunteers Foundation Malaysia (also known as Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa) is an international effort organization with the aim to improve the spirit of volunteerism and friendship among students. They train student volunteers through high impact volunteer missions. He also worked as a Liaison Officer at the ASEAN Ecotourism Forum. The ASEAN Ecotourism Forum brought all ASEAN members together in 2016 in Champasak Province, Lao PDR. During this time members worked together to develop the Pakse Declaration to create a coordinated strategy roadmap for ASEAN members.
