Final-year diploma students that participated in the ESDG activities acquired skills necessary for employment. These include essential support functions like career counseling, job matching, CV writing, and interview coaching. Currently, only a limited degree of these types of employment support services are offered by educational institutions in Lao PDR.
These employment support services are considered as a life-long skillset that remains relevant throughout a person’s career and can act as a foundation for further improvement.
The ESDG activity aims to build on the experiences and pilot measures of the concluded Pheun Than Heng A Sip (PTHAS) training programme to strengthen and institutionalize the provision of employment support services within TVET colleges. The activity also collaborates closely with Vientiane Province Technical College and Pakpasak Technical College in Vientiane Capital to strengthen the capacity of TVET teachers and counselors to assist diploma students in finding employment, pursuing self-employment, or continuing their education.
The closing event summarized the accomplishments and learnings of the activity. It also highlighted the initiatives and the required institutional and technical support needed to build upon the experiences in order to improve the employment support services provided.
The ESDG initiative is supported by the Skills for Tourism Project (LAO/029), which is co-financed by the governments of the Lao PDR, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Switzerland, and implemented by the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos and LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency.
