Painting is Joy: Securing a Livelihood through the S2B Project

This is the story of Ernesto Manjate, a painter who received training at the Obras Públicas Training Centre, in Maputo province, Mozambique, in partnership with Swisscontact through the 'Skills to Build' project. The work as a painter guarantees the livelihood of his family. He shares his journey of how he became a painter, what the training was like and how it has improved his life.

The 'Skills to Build' (S2B) project aims to improve competitiveness in terms of quality and productivity in the construction sector. With S2B, Swisscontact promotes vocational training to enable vulnerable young people to obtain training that will allow them to have access to better jobs and income. The project is funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Medicor Foundation and the City of Zurich.
