Horti-Sempre held on the 1st of October the field day of onion cultivation, which was attended by 250 producers from Balama, Chiure, Montepuez and Pemba districts.
The Swisscontact Mozambique country director Régula-Chávez Malgiaritta said during the event " the aim of Horti-Sempre is improving the productivity of producers by introducing new varieties seeds, incorporating new technologies, seeking better post-harvest practices so that these products reach the market with good quality”.
The objective of introducing these technologies is to make the smallholders obtain a better income, increase their production, and stop depending on the neighbours Nampula and Niassa. The district administrator congratulated Swisscontact Mozambique for the facilitation approach and said, "We don't want them to bring us the final product, we want them to teach our communities, our producers".
