ASTHA provides Kit Box to Community Paramedics

On 20 March 2021, Achieving Sustainability Towards Healthcare Access (ASTHA) has provided kit boxes consisting of essential medical equipment to Community Paramedics (CPs) in Sylhet.

ASTHA distributes essential medical equipment to CPs every year to support them to start their career as public health entrepreneurs. The equipment helps them to screen, diagnose and treat primary health diseases. ASTHA has provided kit boxes to 30 CPs in the Sylhet region. Among them, 24 are female CPs and 6 are male, who are expected to open their outlets for serving the underserved and marginalized people in the remote areas of Bangladesh.

The distribution ceremony was held at a hotel in Sylhet with the gracious presence of local government authorities- Dr. Sultana Razea (Divisional Director – Health), Mr. Kutub Uddin (Divisional Director- Family Planning), Dr. Premananda Mondal (Civil surgeon, Sylhet), Dr. Lutfunnaher Jasmin (Deputy Director- Family Planning) and others.

The guests were sensitized on the Community Paramedics program and Swisscontact’s contribution in supporting the government to improve the healthcare condition of rural areas through facilitating this course and profession.
