Credit Suisse - Swisscontact Iniciativa para promover el espíritu empresarial y la innovación (ingl.)

The initiative served to represent entrepreneurship and innovation in developing countries and emerging economies. Through skills transfer and cooperation, select private and public partner institutions worked to enhance the economic and social significance of entrepreneurship, fostering entrepreneurial thinking and action. The initiative created awareness of the need for support and an enabling environment in entrepreneurship ecosystems in terms of improving the chances of survival rates for start-ups around the world and foster their growth. Donors, investors, and local actors in target countries were brought together. Knowledge exchange within these networks was tested in order to develop effective mechanisms. Emphasis is placed on identifying and eliminating bottlenecks in a company’s access to finance at different phases of its development. Active inclusion of global entrepreneurship promotion projects made it possible to aggregate, analyse, and quantify interventions and program results. In turn, these results have gone into new and innovative programme models. Longstanding experience and proven procedures could be factored in the entrepreneurship ecosystem, strengthening the services environment for start-ups and thereby fostering open discussion to promote a positive company image.

El proyecto

The project worked with local representatives within the business ecosystem to allow them access to knowledge, project approaches, and resources. These activities included the following:

  • Consolidation
International knowledge stemming from internal and external sources undergoes consolidation. Knowledge gaps were identified and addressed within these international networks.
  • Mobilisation
Best practices were encouraged, first to create mutual understanding, and second to mobilise partners to apply these practices and work together to close knowledge gaps.
  • Engagement
The engagement step focused on making changes in the business ecosystem through the identification of best practices.
  • Implementation
Working for people and supporting their entrepreneurial motivation while promoting the best approaches were at the heart of our engagement. Change champions guide this process. Technical and marketing experts along with successful entrepreneurs served as ambassadors and created a global learning channel. In their global roles as experts they linked actors together and were examples and motivators in their own markets.
